IHV-22 - Alpaca Lined Whipcord N1 Vest - Olive, Navy, Grey & Khaki

Would you say these fit exactly the same as the IHM-14? Been on the fence with the IHV-22 and IHM-14 because of sizing. I'm close to @Sam and @Dishelveled in terms of size (5'11, 175lbs, 34" waist, 38" chest) but noticed they both fluctuate between medium and large. I measured a vest that fits me pretty well and based on those measurements a large would likely be my best bet, and likewise with the IHM-14. But when I perused the forum people have suggested both vest and jacket are generously sized and that sizing down is recommended. I wear a size large UHF fwiw. i'll have to go measure one of my winter jackets to see how it compares to the IHM-14.

I think it depends on how you want to wear a vest really, a lot of people size down in a vest to get a tighter body and so that it does not overhang the belt.
Sam is really only ever a large for sleeve length hence why he is a medium in these. You can PM me your measurements and I can let you know what I think based off those if you'd like. -
I don't have my exact vest measurements in front of me but off the top of my head the p2p is 22.75" and the front/back length is around 26"-25.5" or thereabouts, so it sits just below my belt. I use it as a layering piece with all my flannel shirts, but it's also pretty thin by IH standards.

I do own one. Tagged L.
I go with tagged L with UHF shirts and IH jacket. I do use to wear it with one uhf + one type III and the vest over. It is perfect. On bike…on foot...
Arms opening are generous. A good thing.
Forgot...but i go tagged M with the jacket. Hope it helps a bit.Envoyé de mon iPhone en utilisant Tapatalk

@Sam:
I did take a medium in my IHM-14 and in the body it's perfect but the sleeves are a touch short… I love it anyway and I only really notice it on my bike but even then... I love it.
sounds like i'm a medium then. I know you have longer arms than me and I believe @Dishelveled also wears a medium in the IHM-14 and he's only 10 lbs lighter than me.

I'd suggest medium on the n-1 for you, gaseous. It is sized generously. The vest question, I do not know, but I'd guess medium too–if pressed.

^to add to this,
I wear XXL pretty much across the board in IH tops and also wear the N1 Deck jacket in XXL with plenty of room for layering.I picked up the XXXL vest last year off the market and it was just a touch too big so I am assuming the XXL will be just the ticket. That being said, I typically wear my vests with at least two or three layers including a hoodie or sweater.

For what it’s worth, I use XL in UHF’s and have the jacket in XL. I layer it over a heavy tee and a flannel in mid-winter. If I wanted to wear it over just a shirt or just a henley I’d need to size down one.
this is why sizing is tricky for me. If I were to rely on IH's fit chart, which by all accounts is fairly accurate, then a size large would work best for me since those measurements are pretty close to an existing vest I own. But anecdotally, some of you size down and some of you go with your UHF size. I would only be wearing the vest with flannels as a layering piece. As for the IHM-14, the fit guide at Self Edge is similar to IH's guide so I think sizing down would be wise. If the IHV-22 was cut exactly like the IHM-14 then i'd likely be a medium but it looks like they're sized differently - ie. IHM-14 med = IHV-22 large.

I feel your pain. Measurements are reliable and no one tries harder than the stubborn crew to get it right, but they don’t tell the whole story. Cut and thickness of fabric play a big part.
Alex’s original point is important. It’s all about how you are going to wear these items. If you want to wear the vest over leathers then go standard size if you want to wear it over regular tops then down one. That would be my advice. Worst case, shell out for two and get a refund.
