Coronavirus (Covid-19) Discussion

My friend sent me this today. We have plans for a group of us to get together in 2 weeks but plans may be changing…
For the American Psycho fans…

speedy recover @Alex

"I think we'll all get this virus sooner or later."
I agree. Six weeks after my second Pfizer-shot I got a three day -flu. Had to take the Corona-test and boom! Positive.
Take your medicine. After delta comes epsilon, zeta, eta, theta etc. There is a lot of alphabets in greek language. -
Arnold Schwarzenegger made the point that we should all wear masks and get the vaccine. OK, he phrased it as "Screw your freedom", which didn't go down well.
The fitness industry as a whole seems to be vehemently anti-vaccine. Several bodybuilders have been critical of Arnie because they don't want to risk taking something that has passed through testing in a record time. They are, however, perfectly happy using black-market steroids that were brewed in a bathtub, without any sterilisation protocols, and often using compounds that were never approved for human use.
I think that I'll go with Arnie's sentiment: If you want to build biceps, listen to him. If you want to fight a highly infectious pandemic, listen to epidemiologists.
Ironically, the regional (or rural) parts of Victoria went into a snap lockdown at 1 pm today because of a Covid 19 cluster that originated in a 24 hour bodybuilding gym forty minutes up the road from me…

They have automated hand washing stations at the airport now. I want one for my house.

Yes @Alex that is so good to hear, unsurprising as it may be.
Sense of smell/taste is one of the things that I get hung up on, which is pretty ridiculous given what else it can do. I just love food to a fault I suppose. It is one of the things that frustrates me the most about a cold or flu that stops me up.
Between COVID, heat domes, fires, continued geopolitical strife, it feels apocalyptic out there. Hope everyone is hugging their loved ones and living their lives.

Just spoke to one of my closest friends. He is a Bonefishing guide on Andros:

You may see a pic of a very unhirsuite me in the gallery
He has Covid (which I did not know until I called him), and I have never before spoken to someone who sounded so close to death…..
FUCK, FUCK, FUCK.....
Just phoned him back. He sounded so poorly when I last spoke to him, I said I'd call back in a week or so. The phone was picked up by his brother, Phillip died 2 days after I spoke to him…..
The consolation, I did speak to him, and he sent all his love to Paula, that was about all he said other than that he had Covid

Yeah, this one hit me hard. He was a big strong Bahamian, his smile could light up the darkest recesses.
Stalking bonefish in a skinny mangrove backwater opening (I christened the spot Bono, because The Edge was just around the corner ), Phillip suddenly freezes and points, and then came out with one of his more memorable quotes…... "Fuck me to tears, look at the size of dat Bone"...All me and my other friend could do, was piss ourselves laughing, no cast was made...

Brilliant story. I will raise a glass tomorrow evening. Losing friends is awful, sorry mate.

Oh gosh @Giles that is devastating. You have my sympathies.
