IHSH-235-OLV - 13oz Military Serge Western Shirt - Olive
-
^That looks like a perfect fit. I've had mine sized up and yes, the arms on these are a bit on the slimmer side. Even I like anything Olive and this one shirt is my new favorite.

Many twill cotton materials will shrink with the right treatment. Agitation and heat are key. However this is sulphur dyed and does fade quickly, so abrasion marks are a definite risk.
If you decide to go for it use a 60C machine wash with very low or no spin and thoroughly soak the shirt before putting it in. I would suggest avoiding the drier the first time.
If that doesn’t work then try the same wash plus drier, or a 90C wash.
For clarity, I’ve not tried this with this material, but that is what I’ve done with wabash earlier with good results. I can’t shrinkage or that you escape marbling/abrasion lines.
Thank you very much! The shirt is due a wash and thought it might be worth giving it a go. I am concerned with causing white marks, don’t want to f**k the shirt up. If I go ahead, I’ll document it on the forum.
I am concerned with causing white marka
When I say «abrasion lines» I’m talking about this white marks. They are a possibility. Soaking the shirt before washing and ising low to no spin will mitigate the risk.
@neph93 - Just to clarify, are you suggesting that I soak this shirt before putting it in the washing machine to avoid the white marks? The black serge shirt that I owned had a bunch of white marks, and I almost didn't buy this one because of it.
I'd be doing a cold wash and hang dry, I want NO shrinkage and minimal fading.

My old Swedish serge cargos have these abrasions. I dig em in that case. My current washing machine has a pre-soak option when you're setting up the cycle and I have had good luck with that in terms of not adding to the abrasions that are already there.

Correct mate. Not a long soak just get it thoroughly wet inside and out. This presents sharp creases from forming in the machine but is these that create the marks.
I washed my one of these this way (30C and 600rpm, air dry), and it went just fine.

Awesome, thank you Neph. Thankfully this one shouldn't need a wash for a bit.

@Dmart Great looking shirt. I own the grey version. But because of the recent heat in Germany I wasn't able to wear it often… Waiting for fall...

After seeing @sabergirl ‘s picture of her 162 I had to get this. I hope I can do mine justice!
Got it from James Dant since IHUK was out. So far I am so happy, a good break from the indigo. -
@Mizmazzle Is that the shirt/deal you pm’d about? If so, outstanding job! It looks great
