Lone voice of dissent :). No from me, given it's such a narrow cut style.
When might that hit the shelves? FW2019?
-
Not that I will be getting one (Definitely won't), but it loses a ton of functionality and appeal as a "warm jacket" without a way to keep your hands warm.
Maybe it's just me, but I've never used handwarmer pockets in my life to warm my hands. That's why God invented gloves.

If it's lined and for the colder weather it definitely needs pockets. Additionally if it's a Storm Rider you may want to put your hands or something else quickly away during a 'storm' so no pockets would make no sense in my opinion. I do agree that the cut may be needed to be tweaked to acommodate the handwarmers (slightly longer?).

Only one wish –> please remake this beautiful jacket in overdyed 21oz + handwarmers + moulton wool collar
-
Gotta have pockets. No point in it otherwise IMO

Agree. I'm not getting one either but if I was, it would have to have hand warmer pockets. Completely defeats the purpose of this jacket, being lined and all.

The color on that type III !!!!! Is that split steer? Damn that’s gorgeous.
Can we have the lining made out of the UHF flannel material G-san?

With the crowd and saying yes to the hand warmers!

I'm all for hand warmers, but only if it doesn't make the jacket bulky. I find I don't use them as much as I think I would, and a storm rider is not meant to be an extreme weather jacket anyways.
My preference is for a classic (short-ish) fit / length though. This is more important to me.

It's not just you. I'm in your camp, on this one. Although, it appears we are in the vast minority.

Given the inevitability of pockets, would the opening be hidden behind the existing seam/stitching, or would it be set further back, like the Type 3s?

I like the cleaner look of No hand-Warmers…
although my vote is null as I bought a pretty clean SExIH18 at the end of spring that's waiting for me to wear.. -

Aesthetically I’d say no hand warmers. I prefer the look and agree with @wdw that gloves are the thing. The duck type II (IHJ-3?) and IH-526j-od I own are better jackets because of their purist approach.
However I now also own the IH-533 and the IH-2526j and find myself appreciating the pockets as a place to put keys, telephone tobacco products when working/shopping and juggling fifty kids. So it wouldn’t be a deal breaker.

No handwarmers IMO.
The majority is acting like it's a must have, but it's obviously not since the original, far cleaner designs lacked them.
The ancients, in their wisdom, realized that you have pockets for that already on your jeans and that a short rider's jacket would only be needlessly mucked up by the superfluous pockets:
