Luggage Bags and Packs

@Anesthetist dude that is gorgeous. They’re my favorite bag maker. I’d love one of their leather coats.
TL;DR before I sing their praises there is a drop schedule at the bottom of this post if anyone wants a Rofmia.
They’re just so thoughtfully designed and meticulously crafted. Perfect urban bags. You wouldn’t want to use them for any excessively rough pursuits but perfect for work and travel for me. Extremely water resistant. Not seam sealed but it would take a remarkable deluge to penetrate them.
I have the Daypack V2 which I use as a work laptop bag and the Backpack V2 which I use as a gym bag or a work laptop or travel bag when I need more capacity.
I have a couple of their attachments that I place on whichever bag I’m using. One that is a chest pouch that attaches to the Fidlock-secured chest strap, and another that’s good for cell phones or sunglasses (the dyneema is lines with a soft neoprene-like material so it’s safe for lenses) that attaches to the shoulder straps and has an awesome Fidlock secured flap for easy one handed operation, and an aqua guard zippered pocket. Both of these accessories come with lanyards so they can also be used independently. So sometimes if I just want a place for my sunnies I’ll just wear the sunglasses pouch around my neck. Can place cash, cards, lends wipes, etc in the zippered pocket.
The thoughtfulness and modularity of what they do is on an Acronym level but perhaps even more practical and pragmatic (and less gimmicky).
If you’re interested in getting of these extremely rare and hard to acquire bags here is the release schedule. You have to be Johnny on the spot when they drop because this is like two people turning out a few of these at a time:
16 Nov 0:00 Daypack V2 M
Mid-December Daypack V2 L
January Backpack V2
Feb Dayneema Leather Daypack V2 M -
Picked up a used Goruck GR1, the older version that is full 1000D cordura. It’s in near mint condition. Excited to finally have one!
-
Hello,
is there a good address to buy goruck bags from when you are based in Europe?
I'm interested in the GR1 but I've never really seen it in person.
-
Keus in France carry some of GORUCK bags.
https://www.keus-store.com/en/brand/42-goruck
GORUCK themselves have a Black Friday sale going on, so it might be worth going direct.
-
Thank you Greame!
Can any owners of GORUCK bags share their experience with the product? It really is a lot of money for an edc-bag in case of the GR1. I understand they use premium materials like 1000den Cordura (which was also used with my 120€ very old Bach Wizard).
-
@RobeOfTheMagi I really like mine, but then again i have a totally overpriced special model, a carryology collab. got it through KEUS, they offered decent service.
-
@RobeOfTheMagi
My son has used a gr1 as a book bag for years. It takes a beating. Eventually got one for myself. Mostly a travel bag. They are tanks. Not a lot of frills but durable and an unbeatable warranty. The shoulder straps take a bit to break in and mold. -

I’ve had the 21L(?) GR1 for about seven years. I use it a lot and it shows hardly any signs of wear apart from a little fading from sun exposure. As others have said, the features are fairly minimal but they are really well thought out. My only gripe is that there isn’t an external water bottle holder built in. I have the Goruck MOLLE water bottle pocket attachment but to be honest I find it annoying to fit and generally don’t bother with it. More importantly, you can get three 500ml beer bottles in the internal laptop sleeve!
It is super comfortable when heavily loaded, did I mention beer bottles? If I go on holiday I always aim to take it as my only piece of luggage.
Yes, it’s pricey, especially as an import, but “the quality remains when the price is forgotten”!

Goruck has a pretty decent Black Friday deal right now if any one is interested

Got that GR1 in the mail. Loving the bag! Might pick up a field pocket in black whenever they become available again. My only real issue with the bag is I wish it had small side pockets on the outside, instead of the side molle straps. This bag replaced a made in USA Topo Designs cordura bag that I had, and I had gotten so used to the side pockets for a phone/pen/knife. Not a total dealbreaker, but just missing that.
Also trying to find some good velcro patches. None of the ones I'm really seeing online are my vibe. Any suggestions on where to get some good ones?

Made an XHS morale patch for my Goruck from hem cutoff scraps.
-
What is a ‘morale patch’?
-
Google:
What is the purpose of a morale patch?
A morale patch is a military ornamental insignia with humorous images and expressions. They can be used as identification with a particular unit, such as a division or brigade, and are designed to build an esprit de corps with military personnel. -
That’s really well done, I’m impressed!
-
@chrisjohnnick brings to mind the flag of Thailand, which is apt considering their affinity for selvedge denim.
-
Yea, these days In civilian circles, "morale patch" typically just refers to patches with velcro backing. I’ve found it challenging to find designs that aren’t overly political, heavily geared toward gun enthusiasts/militia types, or filled with immature slogans or phrases. So decided to make my own subtle "iykyk" one.
@Giles I may have enough to make one more if ya need one! If not XHS, I know I've got some 21oz and 17oz floating around.
-
@T4920 Hadn't noticed that! I kept thinking of the Chicago flag (minus the stars) while making it.
-
That’s amazing work.
Agreed most patches are too tryhard wannabe GI Joe or something egregious like a totenkopf. This makes a statement, bucks the tacti-cool poseurhood, and looks great. Bravo!
