RAWscore - the hit or miss fit and combo space

A chore coat, a deck jacket, and an M-65 walk into a bar…
I think that's a solid design (especially like the raglan and pockets) and I like North Face a lot for a mass manufacturer.

Heya folks! I was so happy when I was able to get an IHSH-106 in a size Large. I had missed that drop and I love that color combination of brown and orange. I couldn't help wondering if I should've sized up, though. I tend to go with large denim shirts and jackets, sometimes a medium.
Then, I found someone selling the IHSH-106 in a size XL! Oh happy day! Now that I have both, I know that I have to get rid of one but I'm not sure which. Can y'all chime in? BTW, that's not sweat on my t-shirt, I just got out of the shower, though it is 90F outside and I'm wearing a quilted shirt…
The large fits trim but is a bit tight right around the top of my pectoral when I button:
The XL fits a bit large, but buttons without issue:
Thanks!

The recommendation was to size up on these when they came out as they were made to normal western dims, but the lining made them fit smaller. I took an XXL which I still use, but could have gotten into an XL.
In your case I would say the L is a shirt fit, the XL a shacket fit. Looks like you could layer under the XL. They both work in their way.
Go with the one you’ll use more?

Thanks, you two!
I do remember reading that the recommendation was to size up on these, so the XL would fall into that category. I don't know if I could go so far as to layer under the XL…maybe a light flannel or denim shirt, but it's definitely roomier.
I just want to make sure that it looks like I'm wearing the XL instead of the XL wearing me, know what I mean? If y'all don't think that the XL looks too big, I'll stick with it.

I absolutely LOVE laying a hoodie under these, so the XL has my vote.

I think large looks too tight across the chest. [emoji2368]

I can see it is a little trim there, but I think the XL looks too big without something under it.

Looking for advice on this North Sea Clothing Brig 2 cardigan. The quality is great and I think I like it but am not sure about the ribbed waist and how tight the neck is. Used to cardigans that when open have a straight gap down the middle if that makes sense, whereas here the neck is tight and waist loose. It is a function of the design and perhaps a good thing?

I think it looks good. I never button all the buttons of Cardis or Vests tho.. I usually leave the top and bottom buttons undone - that might alleviate your issue!

Neck looks fine. Sleeves look a bit long. The bunching around the waist looks sloppy when buttoned. Looks pretty good when unbuttoned.

@Nkwkfld I dig it

Thanks all!
Agreed DrPat about sleeves and waist when buttoned.
I appreciate everyone’s comments and am trying to find something with a kind of easy messy look but this is not the one. Can’t say it immediately works like some recent IH purchases so this has now been sent back

@Nkwkfld I think it's a cool look. That said, if you're looking for a shawl and this one didn't quite pass muster, have you seen the Dehen 1920 shawls? I think they look great!
