IH-555-XHSib - 25oz Selvedge Denim Super Slim Jeans - Indigo/Black

Never put a phone in a front pocket of a pair of jeans. Never have, never will, just damn uncomfortable….
Yep, and I think front pocket phone fades are straight up ugly IMO
-
Agreed. But back pocket ain't great for me either since I tend to sit on it and torsion the glass screen protector into breakage. My favorite solution is an inside shirt pocket like the shirt @nietenhosen made for me, since I'm not always wearing outerwear or layers with additional pockets. My wife has this phone case on a strap with a little storage called a Bandolier that sort of merges a micropurse with a phone case. I feel it would look ridiculous on a man (perhaps that's sexist, but I can't help it) and would annoy me since I'm not in the habit of hauling cross-body bags around everywhere I go. My compromise is to stick with "normal" sized phones like the 12 and just deal with the back pocket.

I can't remember for the life of me if I had this issue with the 555. Anyone else have this issue with this fit or others?
The rise on the 777 is shorter so the phone will sit at a different point. However, front pockets on IH jeans are not deep, nor are they very big. This is true on all cuts. In that respect they are not designed for carrying a modern smart phone.
I’m with Giles on this. Phones belong in back pockets at best, never in front pockets. Cpo/ jacket hand warmers or internal pockets all work. This is both for practical purposes, and aesthetically.
Best of all is a bag. My phone mostly lives in my IHE-39.

I actually made several cracks in a smart phone carrying it in my rear pocket once. Bent over to get something, pants got tight just the right way and CRACK. I knew what happened right away. Ever since then, front pocket.

FWIW the pocket thing is possibly a matter of habit. I’ll confess I’m a front pocket person (not uncomfortable in my 666s except when I’m lacing shoes/boots, but I agree with the other negatives). I’m more uncomfortable (in both senses) with sitting on my phone and don’t always have other pockets available, so for me it’s the least bad option.
Maybe Giles/Reuben need to issue an official pocket usage guideline so we can adjust ourselves before meeting other forum members in real life :).

I am waiting for the "indigo invitational" to try the 555, but I would agree the 666, then the 777 for me. 777, for me, feels like I am about to show my butt crack at any given moment and shirts are harder to stay tucked in. I have, strangely, had the most compliments on the 777 though.
Is this new 555 that you purchases is for the Indigo Invitational? My 666 XHSiB that arrives tomorrow is actually the pair that I plan to use for the Y3 Indigo Invitational that starts in April this year.
. Well, originally I just purchased them because I wanted to try them. Then I learned about the invitational, so I decided to leave the tags on them until April. It will also allow me some time to learn with my other two pairs of IH.

My phone(s) live in my recently acquired IHE-37. The misses is very happy I don't ask her to carry them anymore.

Welp I’m freakin heart broken, was gonna try and wear these as long as possible without washing or soaking, however today at a party I sat on a old white party chair and it left sticky white residue almost like paint on my brand new pants :'(… tried to spot clean but it’s just way too much and I feel like I’m gonna do more damage scrubbing than just washing. Looking for some advice… the fit is just perfect right now and I’m scared to wash as they may shrink too much and be too small, do y’all think just a cold soak will get it out? Might just be venting at this point as I’m fuming …
-
@Oz430 I'm feeling your pain, man! This is awful.
I think there's only one solution though: they need a wash. I wouldn't do a cold wash either. Not sure what kind of stuff got in your jeans, but it sounds degrading paint chemicals. I would guess you'll need at least some heat and detergent to get rid of that.
Good luck! And would be great to hear how you get on.

, do y’all think just a cold soak will get it out?
Ooof [emoji51] Sorry that happened to you. Spot cleaning is probs not a great solution, but if it is paint then I doubt a cold soak will work. That being said, unless you can find out what it is, I guess your best strategy would be to start with with a soak then work your way up as necessary.
-
@Oz430 annoying but it happens. Definitely wouldn’t try and spot clean that. I’d say just crack on and give them a proper wash. You’re better off getting the shrink out now than when the fades have set in anyway. They’ll snug up a bit but will stretch back out again. I’d soak them through before putting them in the wash to help minimise marbelling. It’ll all work out fine dude, and at the end of the day they’re only trousers. I’ve found it’s best to embrace the evolution of the denim that comes along the way, mishaps and all. 6 months from now you’ll be well on your way to a sick pair and this will be of little consequence
-
@Oz430 Sorry to hear about that. I was in a similar situation with my 666 XHS where I accidentally sat over some grease, but mine was not as big as yours. I ended up washing just that part of the affected area with hot water and then rubbing with a kitchen cloth. It ended up leaving a patch that does not look like natural fading.
So in your case, I would recommend soaking it in warm water or even better a wash in warm water. It might alter the excellent fit that you are experiencing right now, but it will get back to where it is now after a few wears hopefully.
-
@Oz430 don’t panic sure it will come out .
I would definitely be getting that initial soak out the way now but not 100% sure it will budge the paint so a wash is the way to go I have only ever washed mine in the bath using samurai soap so can’t advise on washing in a machine. After the soak or wash all the areas under pressure will stretch back out just uncomfortable for a day or so . -
@Oz430 try putting some 90+% isopropyl alcohol on the spots and maybe it will sort of come off on its own?
-
@Lowlander @neph93 @LewisStonehouse @the246guy @Jcaz6996 @Filthy
Humbled by all the responses and tips gentlemen, thank you so much
I tried spot cleaning the small areas again and it did come off, so I’m gonna do as neph suggested and start small do a soak/wash in the tub with agitation and see what that does and if it doesn’t come off start going up the list as far as washer, and maybe try that alcohol idea! I’ll keep y’all updated

Pleased to hear it came out man. It’s still recommended to get the shrink out sooner than later, but they’re your pants and you’ll enjoy em regardless
Edit upon further thought: if an item of clothing only fits if you never wash it, is it a functional item of clothing, or indeed does it fit at all? Get em washed/soaked and don’t look back brother.
