Thanks,
Yes, it could be the way they are packed. We store them on hangers here, but they are folded when shipped to and from us. You could possibly remove the memory of the fold by soaking, drip drying until almost dry and then ironing on the non-face side of the fabric…...
In some cases, the construction of the hand-warmers creates a bulky seam, the fabric on the front of the jacket/vest probably hinges around that and creates a fade high-point....

Right, I was thinking the same thing–or maybe even with some steam.
Thanks for the info Giles:) -

It's definitely the hand-warmers that creates the seam. I recall someone posing the same question a couple years ago. The hand-warmer seam is visible on my IHxSE od type III as well as my IHJ-69. I think this is why some customers wanted the traditional type III without hand-warmers - the seam isn't visible.
Personally, the seam doesn't bother me the least bit. I see it as a necessary construction detail.

Just to be clear…this has nothing to do with the fact that I WILL be acquiring one of these in the future

Hey Guys,
I have a size question. I want to buy a pair of Alden boots and since I never bought a pair before I want to get an idea on how their size runs. I am a 10D in Wesco's, Wolverines 1000Miles and Redwings, should I stick with 10D in Alden?

anyone have any idea on my question above?

You're probably best off enquiring at one of the other forums. For example,

Hi @scarfmace
I did order a pair of indys once, but sent them straight back for refund because the finishing was so poor for the price point. I wasn't interested in a replacement; the stitching and welt was pretty dreadful when compared to my two pairs of red wings. Probably got a squiffy pair (which isn't okay for such a premium brand), so whilst I can't help with sizing, I'd recommend giving them a thorough inspection if/when you receive them, before making them un-returnable.
Hope that's helpful and doesn't discourage you, I'm sure they generally make excellent shoes. Just be discerning when you receive them

I bought a pair of Indys once. They were shite, I wrote to Alden and said that if I had seen them in a Pound shop on Gozza High Street, I'd have passed. They replaced them (I had to pay to ship them back), and the replacement pair fell apart on the first walk. I bitched and they said (and I jest not), if you want something for serious walking, buy something else.
I did.

@Giles rendition pretty much summed up how I felt about the pair I ordered, just didn't have the nuts to be so frank

Is it normal that my horsehide jacket's side pockets got puffed up/ distorted like this?
-
It depends upon the type of tanning, the quality and thickness of the hide and how much you stuff things into the pockets….
It's the Horween CXL leather I believe. I've soaked it in water under the shower/ in the bathtub just like you had with your Simmon's Bilt jacket and I think that's when this started happening.

@cityofdelusion that could have warped the stitching in relation to the leather…

The stitches seem to be tight and fine actually but the lining and leather "puffed up" like a balloon somehow.
I wonder if there is a way of fixing it and if not, if I should just keep the jacket or try to sell it
