IH-888-XHS - 25oz Selvedge Denim Medium/High Rise Tapered Cut Jeans - Indigo
-
@tinmar welcome to the forum mate, nice place to start with the 25oz!
They look good to me, I personally would not recommend sizing up. Don't be alarmed when you wash/soak them, they will tighten up but they will stretch back out and once you've worn them in, become the comfiest jeans you own!
-
@tinmar If you've managed to get into the jeans, tackled the buttons and they are tight in the waist then you've made it as the denim will relax a bit over time. Enjoy and welcome to the forum

You have a nice fit there. I wouldn't change a thing!

At the end of the day regardless of how good we all think the jeans fit you,and how good we think they look on you,if you’re not comfortable your not going to wear them. May be there’s another pair of 31s with a slightly bigger waist that you’d be more comfortable with. Just a thought.

Anyone put these in a dryer? How does that work out?
I’m tempted because these things take long to dry and I don’t know where to hang them.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Giving my 634s-a a break and back to wearing these. They don’t fit that bad as long as I’m wearing a belt.
The knees are super faded for some reason. I’m guessing dragging them on carpet whoops..

Question for the 25 oz wearers. I have a pair of 888S-21 that fit perfect, but if the temperature dips below 40 degrees fahrenheit they aren't warm enough. I am thinking of getting a pair of 888S in 25oz for the colder temperatures in Tennessee. Is there a material difference in warmth between the 21oz and 25oz that would merit buying a new pair just for winter?
-
@Nashville60 In my opinion, yes. I wear 16oz-Slubs and 18oz vintage during the summer, 21oz in the spring and fall, and 25oz in the winter. The best pants I have for really cold and windy days are the whipcord cargos.
-
@Nashville60 I agreed with Dennis to a point. The whipcord cargos are far superior to any standalone denim I have for warmth and wind resistance. I don't think you'll get as noticeable of a difference as you hope when increasing 21 to 25 oz. I own the 888xhs and while they are warm, they are nothing compared to the cargos, or a merino wool base layer under denim (I ride horses all winter long in Minnesota in jeans with a merino wool base layer).

My take: Whipcord cargos are very good for cold days. XHS isn't "warm" in the sense that it is not a very textured/fuzzy denim. But it is much more wind resistant than 21oz. The parts of the jeans that are taut and in direct contact with your skin will feel no warmer in XHS compared to 21oz. But for the parts that are looser fitting, or not in direct contact (below the knees) the wind resistance of XHS helps a lot.
